Naturalness without new particles

چکیده
A bstract We demonstrate that the physics which resolves naturalness problems need not take form of new particles and can sometimes manifest itself as higher dimensional operators. As a proof principle, we present simple model where scale is parametrically separated from estimated via arguments applied to self-quartic couplings. In this example, appear far above $$ m/\sqrt{\lambda } m / λ , m mass particle λ its coupling. The shift symmetry responsible for resolving problem involves operators rather than particles.

Unbroken supersymmetry, without new particles
In 1981, Y. Koide [2] suggested some models where quarks and leptons were composed of more elementary bosons and fermions having global SU(3) color and SU(3) ”generations” symmetry. With an adequate choosing of the representations for these subparticles, plus a relatively adhoc symmetry breaking scheme, it was possible to derive some parameters of the CKM matrix and, more interestingly, to pred...
متن کاملS-particles at their naturalness limits
We draw attention on a particular configuration of supersymmetric particle masses, motivated by naturalness and flavour considerations. All its relevant phenomenological properties for the LHC are described in terms of a few physical parameters, irrespective of the underlying theoretical model. This allows a simple characterization of its main features, useful to define a strategy for its disco...
متن کاملNew probe of naturalness.
Any new scalar fields that perturbatively solve the hierarchy problem by stabilizing the Higgs boson mass also generate new contributions to the Higgs boson field-strength renormalization, irrespective of their gauge representation. These new contributions are physical, and in explicit models their magnitude can be inferred from the requirement of quadratic divergence cancellation; hence, they ...
متن کاملImproved Higgs naturalness with or without supersymmetry
Many models of electroweak symmetry-breaking with an extended Higgs sector exhibit improved naturalness, wherein the new physics scale, at which quadratic divergences of Higgs mass parameters due to top quark loops are cut off, can be pushed beyond the reach of the Large Hadron Collider without unnatural fine-tuning. Such models include examples where the new physics is supersymmetry, implying ...
متن کاملAnomalies without massless particles.
Baryon and lepton number in the standard model are violated by anomalies, even though the fermions are massive. This problem is studied in the context of a two dimensional model. In a uniform background field, fermion production arise from non-adiabatic behavior that compensates for the absence of massless modes. On the other hand, for localized instanton-like configurations, there is an adiaba...
